Cannabis

What is medicinal cannabis?

Medicinal cannabis is separate from recreational cannabis in that you need a prescription to purchase it, as authorized by a licenced medical professional. Medical cannabis tends to have a much more affordable price point over recreational cannabis, and a wider selection of products.

What is THC?

THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis.
It interacts with your endocannabinoid system in your body, the system that
contributes to your feeling of “homeostasis”, or internal stability. THC binds
to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system, causing a variety
of effects in your mind and body. THC has shown to help with:

-Appetite stimulation

-Pain reduction

-Glaucoma

-Nausea reduction

-Insomnia

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis. Experts don’t know exactly how CBD works on the endocannabinoid system, but the research shows that CBD can help with:

-Anxiety

-Insomnia

-Seizures

-Chronic pain

What is the difference between indica, sativa, hybrid?

'Sativa' is colloquially used to refer to strains containing higher THC and lower CBD content. Sativa strains are generally more “energizing” than indica strains, and may help focus. Indica strains contain higher CBD content and lower THC.
'Indica' strains tend to have a more “sedating” effect and are commonly used for inducing sleep. Hybrid strains are caused by crossing 'indica' and 'sativa' stains together. These strains can end up being sativa dominant or indica dominant, and may either magnify or lessen the feeling of being “high”.
